BAMBOO PRODUCTS DEVELOPMENT USING HYBRID TECHNOLOGY: A Design Research on Bamboo’s Potential. (page 1 - 14)
Summary
This article is the second part of two papers and more focused to a design project and provides recommendations for the future use of bamboo as a material for industrial products. This research explored three factors: (a) the contribution of advanced technology and improved treatment methods to improve bamboo’s material performance; (b) the appropriate use of human resources through the application of hybrid technology; and (c) the introduction of improved design to create functional products with a wider potential market. Exploration of the current situation led to an analysis of factors requiring changes in supply, production and distribution methods, and in the design of bamboo products.

Portrayal of Women in the internet: a study of signs and visual code. (page 31 - 44)
Summary
The vastly popular use of internet has transformed the images of women from frequently characterized as submissive, dependent, overlooked ingénue in the past to the active subject in the media and capable of determining their own image nowadays. The conducted research confirms this situation through study upon the sample of 17 woman-related websites. The sites were chosen and the corresponding visual codes were subsequently analyzed. In this paper only 7 selected cases are presented, which were chosen due to their exposition of the images of women in the internet to have evolved to various non-conservative characters i.e. women as an active, independent and intellectual individuals. Among these seven cases are mostly from women sites hosted in US. This research employs semiotic methods and visual analysis i.e by considering the site’s visual appearance as a system of signs.

The use of Coconut Coir as alternative of fabric material. (page 57 - 64)
Summary
This research stands upon the main idea that the role of industrial design in utilizing the robotic technology is urgently needed for the disaster mitigation. Through the industrial design perspectives, the authors endeavored to develop a robotic product, aimed specifically to search trapped casualties under the building rubbles of a post-disaster region. The product is called Viroids, an autonomous robot with capability of locating the victims. The design process involved a multi-disciplinary approaches i.e. industrial design, electrical and mechanical engineering and the discipline of post-disaster mitigation. Several functionalities equipped in the product including (a) powertrain and infra red sensor for collision preclusion;(b) CCTV camera to identify the casualties; (c) LEDs, speaker and microphone for communication. The design of Viroids is expected to be capable of reaching deep and narrow location underneath the ruined area of contoured surfaces. It is also anticipated to be further developed by the product research and development institutions as well as industries in
