It then defines traditional and innovative handicrafts for achieving these objectives. Some problems in policy, institution, and producers’ levels have been analysed, such as: lack of coherent policy and measures, decisive government intervention for human resource development (HRD), lack of support facilities, lack of recognition on traditional values and future potential, low craft quality, lack of cooperation among producers, low managerial and design capability. It puts forward recommendations to overcome the identified problems, which are: (a) Formulation of clear policy and future visions; (b) Strengthening institution-building; (c) Market development; (d) Applying traditional values as a driving force for regional development.

From semiotic approaches and textual analysis on the ads, it is found that the men’s images in the contemporary advertisement design remains dominated with the masculinity images -the images of men of masculine, virility, muscular physique and other pertinent issues of active characters or agility. The image of masculinity, however, has now extended to the issues of inner characteristics, e.g. responsible and savvy. Summary: syaifudin.jpg

The research attempts to divulge the visual elements in designing a web. The aim is to show that visual representation components (e.g. image, photo or sketch/drawing) in a webpage is more powerful compared to its verbal representation counterpart (texts) in instigating the interaction between the page and the users. Literature reviews and observations of several web design samples indicates the visual representation can be inferred by the aspects of gazing, framing and angle viewing to meet the interaction goals, e.g.: (1) The photo or picture of staring eyes are intrinsically capable of raising the values of human expression in socializing; (2) Framing of the unique attributes of the web owner accentuates the web characters & identities; (3) Angle viewing selection may affect how close the relation between the merchandiser, purchaser and viewer are.
